How this list works. We list libraries, recreation departments, senior and community centers, JCCs, clubs, and bridge and game centers that play canasta or Hand and Foot and have a page of their own. We don't list private teachers. Each listing says when the group meets and who can join, and links to the group's own page for times, costs and how to sign up. We last checked every listing on October 5, 2026.

Run a group?
Add it to the list
Write to us at admin@redthrees.com with your group's name, its town, what you play, and a link to the page where people can find it. It's free, and we check each group before it goes on the list. Something out of date, or would you rather not be listed? Tell us the same way and we'll fix it.
Before your first game
Most groups teach newcomers, but it helps to know the basics. Our rules pages teach Modern American Canasta, classic canasta, Hand and Foot and Hand, Knee and Foot one step at a time, and our printables page has free score sheets and rules cards to bring along.
Questions about finding a game
How do I find a canasta group near me?
Start with your public library's events calendar, your town's recreation department or senior center, and any JCC nearby. Many run a weekly game or a beginner class. The groups on this page are ones we've checked.
Do I need to know how to play before I go?
Not always. Many groups teach new players at the table or run beginner classes, marked "New players welcome" on this page. Reading the rules first helps you follow along.
